Nighties for Pakistani summers: cotton, fit and care
When it's 40 degrees and the power goes out at midnight, anything synthetic is unbearable. The right nighty is cool, soft and easy — and still lovely to be seen in.
Why cotton
Cotton breathes and soaks up sweat instead of trapping it against your skin. Synthetics feel smooth in the shop and sticky by 2am. For summer, choose cotton nighties.
How it should fit
- Loose through the body — air moving is what keeps you cool.
- Long enough to stay where it should while you sleep.
- Soft seams and no scratchy labels against the skin.
- Between two sizes? Take the bigger one; nighties are meant to be easy.
Sleeveless or sleeved
Sleeveless for the hottest months and rooms without a cooler; short sleeves if you share a room with family or like a little more cover.
Care
- Wash in cool water with similar colours.
- Dry in the shade — strong sun fades colour and weakens cotton.
- Iron on a low setting, or hang straight while damp.
